Short-term Programs
Sophia University offers January Session and Summer Session for those who are interested in a short-term study at Sophia. Program participants are able to gain first-hand experience on many aspects of not only Japan, but also East Asian culture and society – witnessing the myriad of ways in which the cultures of the world are reflected in the maze-like urban landscape of Tokyo.
The Summer Sessions welcomed over 11,000 students from around the globe since its foundation in 1961, and many have gone on to pursue exciting careers related to Japan. These Sessions offer a rare opportunity for Japanese students and international students from abroad to gather, study, discuss, and reflect on Japan’s role as a member of East Asian region in the world.
First launched in 2013, January Session is also popular among our participants, consisting of courses which take participants to a journey through the world of Japanese language, culture and contemporary social issues.

Transcript Requests
If you participated in a session in/ after 2020, you can log in to the portal using the link below to download your transcript by entering your email address and password.
You can also request to send the transcript directly to any organization or institution by selecting “Share Transcript” after logging in and entering the recipient’s email address.
If you have forgotten your portal password, please use the “Forgot your password?” option on the login screen to reset it. If you have forgotten your email address, please contact us via email.
For those who participated in a session in/ before 2019, you cannot issue transcripts from the portal, so please fill out the form below and attach it to your email inquiry.
If you would like a hard copy of your transcript sent by mail, please note that it costs shipping fee depending on the delivery area. Please fill out the form below and attach it to your email inquiry.
